earthspeaks.org
Back in the winter of 2001 -- oh, so long ago -- the idea of earthspeaks.org took first flight.
I was rookie to the web then and thought it would be a snap to create a new issue every quarter or so. Four entries a year should do it. I even asked a few friends and my mom to contribute. They did, and earthspeaks.org made its web debut.
I was at the end of my teaching career then, pondering retirement, and hopeful that keeping earthspeaks up-to-date would be a worthy retirement gig. Instead, for earthspeaks inaugural upload, I was so confused I turned everything over to good friend Jean François, better known in northeast Ohio as Dr. Mac. I even made the trip up from Dayton to watch and learn. Jean François made it work. I watched, but things didn’t look remotely intuitive to me. And so up until the morning of 9 March 2009, earthspeaks.org remained unchanged.
Finally, Apple came to my rescue with iWeb with page templates I could work with. Cutting and pasting text and images are doable. Thanks, Steve! Earthspeaks.org breathes once more!
Come back now and then to see what I’ve come up with. I’m going to start with the winter ’09 essay, Crestone. See the link above. Before too long you’ll find poetry here, links to my photo gallery over at Apple, more essays, even some fiction. Some of the fiction might be a little hot, or a little blue. I’ll be sure to warn you. Shoot, there might even be a blog before too long.
In the meantime, I’ll keep sorting through my projects to see which ones deserve some daylight here on the old www. I guess you can teach an old teacher new tricks!
